HIPA Race Week Update – 2010 Race #2
Aloha, I hope everyone enjoyed the 2 weekend break before we head into 4 week stretch of races.
First up, the East Hawaii Challenge sponsored by Mike O’Shaugnessy and Puna Canoe Club.
This is a point to point event (starts in one place, ends in another).
Race Registration will start at 7:30 at Puna Canoe Club’s Halau (if we have enough volunteers).
The race meeting and race start will be at Richardson’s Ocean Park in Keaukaha.
Arrive early so you can get to the start and sort out the vehicle thing.
Races will be run concurrently (same time). There will be a short delay between starts so the start lines can organize (if that’s what you want to call it)
both races will start off of Richardson’s Ocean park. The Short course (and Stand-ups) will run straight down to Hilo Bayfront. The Long course will run ESE for a bit before turning back to Hilo.
Lunch and awards will be at Puna Canoe Club’s Halau.
If anything else comes up, we’ll send any afternoon update, otherwise, see you in the morn’
Notes:
- Every canoe must have a unique number. In the event of a duplicate number, the 2nd craft that uses it will be DQd
- Cheryl’s Valetines Couples Relay will be held on February 13th. Cheryl is looking for donations for the event. Please contact Cheryl at zenawpa@yahoo.com.
- We have the Patagonia HIPA shirts for those who registered online. If we have enough of the Patagonia, those who did not register online will get one too.
